152 Ardizzone Edward. Ardizone's Hans Anderson. Fourteen Classic Tales. Selected and Illustrated By Edward Ardizzone. Translated By Stephen Corrin.

The fourteen tales in this selection from the works of Hans Anderson include favourites like The Snow Queen, The Ugly Duckling, The Tinder Box, The Emperor's New Clothes and, of course The Little Mermaid, together with one or two of the shorter, less well-known stories such as The Darning Needle and The Shirt Collar. Edward Ardizzone had always wanted to illustrate a collection of his favourite Hans Anderson stories, and with this lovely book he has fulfilled that wish. His black and white drawings show how well he understands the moods of characters, his colour work, soft and subtle, is superb; beautiful and haunting. 154 Armstrong Keith and Beynon Editors. Hello, Are You Working?. Memories of the Thirties in the North East of England.
Newcastke UK. Strong Words,Erdesdun Publications. 1977 Paper Back Very Good Booklet.
96pp stapled booklet, staples rusting slightly.Articles and illustrations of the thirties. In this collection the words of some sixteen people who, in a variety of different ways-experienced the severity of the last Depression in the North East of England. The nineteen thirties are remembered - perhaps above all else for the unemployment. In 1929 some 1,341,000 people were registered as unemployed. By 1932 the figure had doubled and it stayed over the two million mark for three years. The North East then (as today) was one of the worst hit areas. The Hunger March from Jarrow- a town virtually made redundant by the closure of the steelworks and the shipyards- became a National symbol.

160 Ash Russell and Higton Bernard Editors and Designers. Van Gough's Provence.
London Pavilion. 1992 First Edition Pictorial Laminated Board. Very Good +
A very nice tight and clean copy. In 1888 Vincent van Gough went to Provence to seek 'a different light'. The result was both a triumph-perhaps the most extraordinary output of his work of any artist ever-and tragedy, as his 'madness' manifested itself. This book presents Vincent's highly personal image of this beautiful landscape, a selection of landscapes, portraits and still life.
