Possibly an unread copy, the book is in v.good condition, pages are lightly browned it appear never to have been fully opened. Born in County Cork into an Anglo-Irish Ascendancy family with Nationalist sympathies, Patricia Cockburn has had an endlessly eventful and entertaining life. She write of her pioneering work for the Royal Geographical Society in largely unmapped parts of Africa and Asia; of her marriage to Claud Cockburn, which provided her with a frontline view of political life in England and the post-war Balkans and of her grateful return to Ireland with her husband and three sons. A vivid and engaging book.
