Dublin Wolfhound Press 1997 0863275869 / 9780863275869 Paperback Very Good
Possibly an un-read copy, tight and clean. Derry 30 January 1972. A bright Sunday afternoon . In a 'carnival atmosphere' a peaceful anit-internment march begins. A few hours later, 13 men have been shot dead, mostly by single shots to the head and trunk. Within days of the killings, over 500 eyewitness testimonies were recorded to be presented to the Widgery Tribunal by the National Council for Civil Liberties. Only 15 were considered. There is no truth as powerful as witnessed truth, and the accounts tell a dramatic human story of tragedy, brutality and heroism. Forgotten for over 20 years they have now been unearthed by Don Mullan, himself an eyewitness. And over 100 are published here for the first time. These accounts pierce to the heart of the day's events. They reveal the terrible truth that the British Establishment still refuses to disclose.

160 O Luing Sean. I Die in a Good Cause. a Study of Thomas Ashe Idealist and Revolutionary.
Tralee,Ireland. Anvil Books. 1970 First Edition Soft Cover Good
A rare chance to obtain this very scarce publication. White covers are grubby tear top and bottom of spine, shelf rubbing to edges and corners, small ink line on back cover. Internally pages are browning, outer edges of pages grubby. Illustrated with many photographs.' To brute force he opposed the only weapon left. The denial of political rights to the man seeking the full political stature of his country is an affront to the honour of his cause that no freeman will accept. Thomas Ashe, fighting the battle ofor human rights on the icy floor of Mountjoy prision, declined to accept it. The authorities classified him as a criminal. Rejecting the classification, Ashe joined issue with his captors in circumstances that left them with all the power to inflict suffering on him. To brute force he opposed the only weapon left, the passive and moral resistance of the hunger strike. Exhausted under forcible feeding, he did not yield. His quiet words of resolve in a last interview with the Lord Mayor of Dublin proclaim his character; 'Even though I do die, I die in a good cause.' This is the story of Thomas Ashe, the thoughtful revolutionary whose life and death so deeply influenced resurgent Ireland.'
